The National Association of Black Journalists Convention
July 28-31, 2010
Four days in San Diego for the NABJ convention has been an amazing learning experience and an opportunity to connect with colleagues, encourage the next generation of young journalists and make new friends, including radio host Jacque Reid, CNN's Roland Martin and Chris Lawrence, ESPN's Mike Wilbon, WNBC's DeMarco Morgan, and Marcus Osborne of StraightMaleFriend.com, just to name a few! We attended a hosts of educational panels regarding mobile technology and how it is affecting the way journalists gather and cover news, opportunities to evolve our craft into viable business ventures, learning to adapt to a changing business model of journalism without fear, and how to embrace and utilize social media to the fullest. Julia joined a panel to discuss how these new approaches to media have helped lead to the creation of Highway to a Husband. And in-between all the learning and sharing, there were of course, plenty of laughs and hugs!
